It seem the last update introduced a bug, the audio seem completely messed up with FireFox, this will be fixed in the next release.

It wan't work with the default example also with simple code from the docs.

I tried on 2 different old machines (Win 10 & 8) with Firefox 52 and Chrome 56. In Firefox (at least) i get a very choppy sound and Chrome is just dead. I use Shadertoy for few months, i have some programming experience. Also i too lazy right now, to look at the source at github.

Chrome should work best out of the box, the app. still have issues with Firefox due to a difference with WebAudio optimizations, i don't know yet wether it is a bug or something which cannot be solved easily.

The best thing you can try to have smooth audio:

Fragment is a bit different than Shadertoy as it focus more on being a programmable spectral synthesizer, adding a lot of sinewaves is computationally intensive and i guess is still out of reach for most browsers/specs.

sorry for the slow reply, meanwhile I bought a brand new pc.

It is now better (with smooth audio) - i can hear something, but the sound is still very choppy. Sounds like their is not enough buffer.

Do you know what kind of CPU and GPU your computer has?

Did you tried with the Chrome browser again?

If you use the program above, the audio settings can be configured by executing it with the --frames argument fas.exe --frames 1024 this will execute it with an audio buffer size of 1024, it is set to 256 by default but maybe it is too high.

The audio on Firefox still have issues and i have not found a good solution yet.

I will try to focus on performances again and on a GUI to change FAS parameters as well, i hope to enhance the accessibility which is a major issue right now as you can see.

Yes im not sure yet if i should open an other topic. Its not about Firefox, it's about Windows.
My System:
Intel i5-7300HQ
Geforce 1050Ti
Realtek HD Audio
Browsers: Chrome dev Build, Chrome Canary, Firefox (stabel)
And then i got 2 other PCs with older Hardware.

I don't think any settings of the fas.exe host application can help. I start a research on the web, i think the bug happens in Windows itself. So i will investigate and report to this forum if i find a useful solution.

Odd as it seem the specs of your computer should be fine with Fragment.

Is the simple 440Hz tone when you create a new session choppy as well?

Yes even with a simpel test sine wave the sound is glitchy/choppy

I "feels" like it has something to do with mouse -movement,
- that's the big choppy sound (glitch)
-and then a continuous "choppy" sound, that sounds like a wheel is turning and just a tiny bit missing only on my right speaker.

So the mouse-movement choppy sound is less in the smooth audio mode, good news.

finally i got it

Score resolution (height) 256 !!!(is my magic number) To choppy sounds anymore.

Interesstig to see that the GTX 970 outperforms the 1050TI

Hello Alexander,

congratulation on your first piece i am glad to know that you found a solution, glitchy sound may also happen due to browser reflow, this probably make Fragment miss frames (when that happen, it cannot render at a constant 60fps), this is another browser issue, i presume that it happened when you moved the mouse, this can be mitigated by having a minimal number of tabs and other things going on at the same time on your computer.

I will investigate on performance issues with other hardware as i would really like to know why you get a choppy sound at more than 256 oscillators, your GPU&CPU should be very capable of going to at least ~500 oscillators.
